Working With Kids, Beautiful Beautiful Kids!!!

Welcome to another edition of Before & After post processing with Lucky Pro Photography. It’s been a few weeks since we’ve brought you an insight into our editing process, so this session we’ll give you a two-for-one. Let’s feature some kids that we have worked with, one being Miah on the right and our son Crosby (Mr. Junior Photographer). Let’s get started!

Okay, here’s the original photo right out of the camera with no tweaks. Examine it…her expression was awesome, the exposure is balanced and overall, the photo looks great. Now let’s make this good photo an awesome photo!

Lucky Pro Natural – We use this technique on roughly 80% of all our photographs… this is the defining process of Lucky Pro Photography. The technique begins with the subtle desaturation of all the colors which works wonders to soften skin tones. Next we add more contrast to the eyes to make them “pop”. Bringing all the color levels back evenly produces an more even-toned and even-saturated photograph. In this particular photograph, we went a little more than generous on the saturation since there were so many different colors that impact the photo. Look closer and you’ll notice some spot touch-ups around her face.

Okay, here’s the original photo right out of the camera with no tweaks. Examine it…proper focus, you feel the attitude from first glance, the photo looks great. Now let’s make this good photo an awesome photo!

Digital Cross-Processing (which a veteran photographer told me was impossible) – This is one of our signature processing techniques. There are quite a few things happening in this technique that bring this photo to life. We use some fill light to bring out the overall brightness while also adjusting the tint from a dull gray to a more flattering green tint and emphasizing the focus on his face…increase the light areas and add a little contrast and Voilà!
