Oh My Gosh, Don’t Step On My Shoe!!!

Hello friends, family and frequent visitors to our blog. We’d like to introduce a new series of posts to be titled “Before & After Friday”. Each Friday (or as often as time will permit) we will post a photograph, the original along with ones which we edit. We get a lot of questions about our digital processing techniques. Although we are not giving away our Top Secrets, these posts will give you some insight on how we decide what processes to use in editing.

Post processing is a very crucial element of photography – we spend a great deal of time developing techniques to compliment our artistic vision for our clients photos. We’d like to share some of these techniques with you through these series so you can see how much thought and time we put into our work. So let’s get started!

Okay, here’s the original photo right out of the camera with no tweaks. So how do we make a good photo an outstanding photo?

Digital Cross-Processing (which a veteran photographer told me was impossible) – This is one of our signature processing techniques. There are quite a few things happening in this technique that bring this photo to life. We use some fill light to bring out the detail in the shoe and pant leg while also adjusting the tint from a dull gray to a more flattering green tint…increase the light areas and add a little contrast and VoilĂ !

Classic Black & White Split Tone - Another signature processing technique and a favorite amongst fans of B&W Photography. A normal B&W photograph removes all color and uses variations of gray for highlights and shadows. Our preferences is to use a light brown tint for these attributes which gives the photos a little more depth.
